Trent's Next Big Step

Trent continues to be stable and slowly progress.  His swelling has gone down tremendously.  His color looks really good. He's looking more like a little baby than a little Buda.
Yesterday was a tough day for us as parents, not because Trent is doing bad but because it get's harder and harder for us to see him the way he is.  We haven't got to hold him since his surgery and it will still be several days before that will happen. It's difficult to think that for 9 months he was held and heard our voices day in and day out...and now he has to lay in that bed all alone and not hear our voices for hours at a time. However, we know that he won't remember any of it and he has no idea really if we're by his side every minute or not. As his wonderful nurse (Jessy) reminded us the other day that seeing him and touching him and being by his side at this point is more for us...not necessarily for him. Because of the sedation he has no idea at this point. He can open his eyes and look around but he is rather zonked and he cannot feel anything.

As of yesterday we were thinking that it would be at least Monday or Tuesday before they would close his chest. However, this morning when the doctors did their rounds they informed us that he was ready close today. We were surprised...pleasantly yet anxiously. It was awesome to hear that he's ready earlier than they anticipated.

At this moment we're just sitting by his bed watching him...sharing our last few moments before they bring in the surgical team to perform this next big step in his process.

We know that God is good...and he keeps proving it to us over and over each day as Trent continues to do well...not saying that if Trent had a bad day that means that God is not with us. Because we know that He will be here through good and bad. However, we're so thankful that He is giving us the good times now.

Keep praying.

GOD IS SO AWESOME!! It is so WONDERFUL to hear that things are going faster then planned!!

The longer you guys battle, the more exhausted you will become and the more important it is for people to continue to lift you up before the Lord. Just as Moses needed the help of Aaron and Hur to hold his arms up when he no longer had the strength to do it himself. That's what the christian brothers and sisters are supposed to do. Lock arms with the wounded and weary and help carry them across battle lines to safety. It is wonderful to see people stepping up and doing that! I pray that God continues to amaze people with the works he does in Trent's life. That his spirit of peace rests over your family and heals the aching of your hearts. That his presence continues to hover over you and you feel his arms wrap around you. Praying for you continually!!

Holly, what wonderful news this is. I found myself drawn for the good news every day! I'm so proud of Trent and all his family for the support you are giving him, even though it is hard to see him there. I continue to wish I was there to give hugs and support. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Bless you!
