In just a few moments Trent will be two weeks old. Wow...what a story he'll have of his first couple weeks of life. He continues to improve drastically everyday. The doctors and nurses are taking good care of him. But we all know that The Lord is the one who is helping him to do so well.
All of the prayers are working wonders in his favor. We're still thankful everyday that God is choosing to allow Trent to do so well. He has gained weight consistently for the past three days. The doctors said in rounds this morning that the feeding tube should come out soon if he continues to do so well. We can tell that he is building strength by the hour. He went from taking less than half his feeding on his own to taking most of his feeding on his own in a matter of twenty four hours. I also heard one of the doctors tell the nurse this morning that they are working toward getting us discharged by the end of the week. Hallelujah!
Discharge training is a big thing we're working on now. There's training on how to give meds, weighing, monitoring oxygen levels, CPR, and several videos to watch. They want to make sure that we're comfortable with taking Trent home and with what to do once we have issues at home. Of course, we're thankful for all of the training. We'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Our stay here at Levine has been spectacular. The doctors and nurses have well exceeded any expectations we could have dreamed up. Although it is exciting to think about going home, it is a little scary to think that we will have him with no doctors or nurses around. Yes they are a phone call away and a somewhat short drive away but it is extremely comforting having a nurse for him 24/7 within eye sight.
As we prepare for going home, getting the last of our training, continue to pray for us and the next steps in Trent's journey. The biggest and most serious hurdle is behind us with a couple more looming in the future. As you pray, also thank and praise God for the work He has done.

Happy Two Week Birthday Baby Trent! Auntie Amy loves you so much!!
What wonderful news that Trent is so close to coming home. We started praying for everyone as soon as Amy & Eric told us about the situation. We will continue to lift you up daily, and we look forward to seeing what God has in store for your precious little boy. God bless you all.
