Better Morning

The nurse told us late yesterday that last night would be the worst night for Trent. He did have it a little rough.
After the Glenn, most babies are not used to new way that the blood has to flow so they tend to have severe headaches that are similar to migraines. He also probably has a sore throat from the ventilator, some pain from the chest tube, incision pain, and just general soreness from the surgery. And since Trent was off the ventilator tube, they can only give him so much pain medication at a time.  With the exception of coming off the ventilator tube so soon (which is a good thing), everything else is common for a baby coming out of this particular surgery.  They had some trouble keeping his pain under control last night. He had a few coughing spells and some vomitting. However, since around 7:15am he has been pretty comfy. We are just sitting here with him and watching him sleep. All of the nurses keep saying he is such a good boy. The doctors have not made their rounds yet, but we anticipate them soon. Then we will have an idea of the plan for today.

Braxton misses his little brother...though, he is having a fun time with grandparents. He is still in school, as we want this time to be as normal as possible for him. His 7th birthday is coming up Saturday...so we hope to have him up for some special time. He is such a good boy and big bro!

We were able to get a sleep room last night, so we got some rest. Emotionally, we are doing ok. It is pretty tough watching your little one cry with so much pain as we did last night...but hopefully that hump is behind us.

Thanks for the prayers. We can feel God's presence with us.

Loving our little man -

We are so excited to see how well your precious Trent is doing. Heart babies are such little troopers. Can't wait to hear about the continued progress. Chuck and I know that you are so thankful to have the second surgery over as we were with Murphy. Murphy just seems to feel so much better now as I am sure Trent will too. Our thoughts and prayers have been with you this week and will continue as you take your sweet boy home.
