Camping Out at Levine

To make a long story short...Trent has been fighting with something for several weeks now. First, he was treated by his pediatrician for what they thought could be RSV (a couple of times), then he was treated for Croup last week. After he had a pretty rough Saturday night/Sunday with coughing,
whining, fever, rubbing his ears, and some labored breathing we decided to call the nurse on call at the pediatrician. At which point we were directed to make a visit to the children's ER just to get things evaluated. Within an hour of arriving here at Levine, the emergency department had determined that Trent was in a little bit of respiratory distress, due to some low oxygen sats and some chest inflammation on x-rays. So he definitely has something that is just not clearing up yet. They decided to admit him, run some tests, and try to get to the bottom of what is troubling him. They said that he was a little dehydrated when we arrived last night so they decided to do an IV. However, after several failed attempts they decided to wait a while to try to run the IV. He has not been quite as fussy today. However, he has decided that he's not going to eat. So, they did end up having to run an IV line tonight to get some fluids in him. His oxygen sats are back up to an acceptable level (even without the added nasal cannula oxygen)...Yay! First small feat down. He is resting well right now, which is great since he did not go to bed last night/this morning until 5:30am. Our goals right now are to let him rest well with the IV fluids and maybe try and get him to eat some tomorrow. His panels from the tests they ran should be back by mid-day tomorrow and should tell us more about what is going on with him and what has been causing his off and on sickness. Again, thanks for all the prayers and support. My phone has blown up all day with texts, calls and emails from everyone who are so concerned for Trent's well being. We couldn't be more thankful for you all. Big Bro Braxton talked to Trent on the phone this evening and definitely cheered up the little guy. Trent loves his big "Brud". We will try and keep everyone posted with Trent's progress. However, please know that he is pretty much bed bound and we're trying our best to keep him occupied most of the day so that he doesn't pull out his IV (as he has been known to do). Please continue to lift Trent up in prayer as his little immune system tries to overcome this illness and fight off anything else that's going around up here.

With a whole love for a heart that isn't -
Wayne and Holly
